Our Culinary Training program is an 10-week culinary art course that takes place in a state-of-the-art kitchens located at 32 Cottage Street in Lockport and 542 6th Street in Niagara Falls. Funded by the John R. Oishei Foundation and taught by Chef/Instructor Peter Flanagan, students enrolled in the program learn basic culinary skills, food service, and sanitary regulations, and various cooking methods. Throughout the program, students will have an opportunity to work for the YWCA Social Enterprises – The Catering Crew, Lockport and Niagara Falls, Niagara Falls International Airport Café, and the concession at Cornerstone Ice Arena in Lockport.
Once students have finished the Culinary Training program, they will receive a Certificate of Completion as well as job placement assistance.
FALL 2017 CULINARY TRAINING PROGRAM
The YWCA of the Niagara Frontier is Accepting Applications for the Community Culinary Training Program
The Community Culinary Training Program offers career and technical training, job readiness training, and job-placement assistance to low-income, hard-to-employ women and men in Niagara County. There is no charge for this program to eligible participants.
Acceptance into the program is based on factors including previous experience in the industry, interest in the culinary arts, a demonstrated need for soft-skill and job training, and the physical ability to complete the program.
Students attend 4-hour classes four days a week, Tuesday – Friday, for a total of 10 weeks. In addition, they are required to complete 60 production hours within the YWCA’s social enterprise, The Catering Crew.
Sessions will be held at 32 Cottage Street in Lockport beginning on September 11, 2017.

About the Niagara Falls International Airport Café
The Catering Crew was awarded the concession contract for the “new terminal” at the Niagara Falls International Café in December 2009. This social enterprise provides employment with a living wage to graduates of Carolyn’s House Vocational Culinary Training program as well as quality service and product to travelers visiting the Niagara Region.
